History of SPIGA

90 years of technology and
history of the SPIGA series

90 years of history with craftsmanship. It was the epoch-making kitchen "SPIGA" that paved the way for our history as a premium kitchen manufacturer.

1934

FIRST PRODUCT

Founded in Seki-shi, Gifu Prefecture, as "Gomei Kaisha Toyo Shokki Seisakusho" (unlimited partnership), the company manufactures stainless steel knives and Western tableware using craftsmen's techniques. The company invented the now common manufacturing method "Monaka Structure" and its light and easy-to-handle stainless steel knives became a big hit.

1987

URUSHI

This kitchen is a collaboration between craftsmen of Wajima lacquerware, a traditional Japanese craft, and craftsmen of the Toyo Kitchen Style. The philosophy of SPIGA TRE has remained unchanged for 40 years.

1990

SPIGA THE BEAUTIFUL

This kitchen was the forerunner of the first island kitchen in Japan, which was later introduced by Toyo Kitchen Style. This kitchen overturned the stereotype at the time that kitchens had to be wall-mounted, and had a major impact on the industry.

1991

SPIGA DUE

It was at this time that the features that continue to define the Toyo Kitchen style today, such as the multifunctional sink, material mix design, and efficient storage system, were born. Doors were painted by Italian craftsmen, combining Japanese and Italian cultures.

2024

SPIGA TRE

In order to pass on the outstanding craftsmanship from Japan and abroad to the future, we have sublimated the finest materials created by masters into kitchens that look like art pieces. Six collections commemorating the 90th anniversary of the company's founding will be presented at the same time.
